TOURNAMENT
Lancaster 3 Olentangy 5
Lancaster 003, 000, 0, 3-7-1
Olentangy 320, 000, 0, 5-7-2
Lan: Curry, Swinehart (5) and Stoughton. Olen: Meade
and Sobieray. WP: Meade. LP: Curry (6-2). Lancaster
Final Record: 19-8. Lancaster was not able to muster
enough offense to overcome a tough Olentangy team. Ryan
Curry and Dane Swinehart pitched well after the first
two innings but the Gales could not get the key hit
they needed to pull out the victory. Jason Hutchison
continued his hot hitting by having two hits, while
five other Gales added hits. The loss ended a great
season and the tremendous careers of nine seniors who
were able to chart a new course for the Lancaster Baseball
Program with a 39-16 record over the past two seasons.
Their effort on the field and in the class room has
set the standard for future Golden Gale Baseball Players.
Coach Smeltzer would like to thank the nine seniors
and their families for the special times he has had
the privilege of sharing with them over the past three
seasons.

Lancaster 040, 000, 0, 4-6-0

Lan: Swinehart and Stoughton. MV: Calland and Short.
WP: Swinehart (5-3). LP: Calland. Lancaster Record:
(19-7). Lancaster won the sectional championship in
a loud and wild game versus Mt. Vernon. Dane Swinehart
pitched a great game giving up only four hits while
striking out nine in order to pick up the win versus
the Yellow Jackets. At the plate, six Gales picked up
hits, four of them coming in the four-run fourth. In
the second inning, Collin Miller reached on a single
and Ryan Curry was hit by a pitch and were brought home
on a triple by Kenny Harlan. Ty Evans brought home Harlan
with an RBI single, and Jason Hutchison’s single and
score on a passed ball wrapped up enough run support
for Swinehart. The Gales will play at Grove City in
the District Semi-Finals on Tuesday May 15 at 2:00 against
Olentangy.

Record: 18-5. Lancaster stumbled around in the field
and dropped a non-league game to St. Charles. Collin

to overcome five errors.

tying run on third) to pick up the save. Lancaster’s
bats cooled off a little with only four Gales getting
hits, but Ty Evans sacrifice fly and Sean Gorby’s single
solidified the win.

job of hosting Lancaster during the Gales spring break
trip last season, and Coach Smeltzer wanted to continue
the relationship with Pioneer head coach Rich Hoffman.
The game was great as Lancaster jumped out to an early
lead and held on for a victory. Joseph Jenkins pitched
a great game and the Gales had some timely hits from
Kyle Studer, Sean Gorby, Kyle Stoughton, and Ryan Curry.
