In Memory of Doug Henwood - A Lancaster Golden Gale Through and Through
Doug Henwood, LHS Boys and Girls Track Head Coach, passed away on May 13, 2008. He coached for a total of 35 years at LHS leading the Gales to 8 Central District titles, 7 OCC Championships in 9 years, 9 individual State titles and also earning OCC Ohio Division and Central District Coach of the Year honors 6 times. Three Lancaster High School Soccer Players to continue playing in college

Three Lancaster High School soccer players will continue their playing career at the college level. Max Penebaker, Ryan Sabol, and Zack Smith will all play soccer while attending college next year. Click here to read the release.

Boys Soccer Team Honored
The LHS Boys Soccer Team was recognized at the 25th Annual Meeting for the Fox Family YMCA. The Soccer Team was presented with the Youth Service Award for their volunteer work with the Pee Wee Soccer Program at the Y. Special mention for their work should go to Skyler Anderson, Max Penebaker and Zip Clouston. This is just one of the efforts by the boys soccer team to "pay it forward."

Boys Soccer To Play at Crew! See David Beckham!
See David Beckham play Soccer! The Lancaster High School Boys Soccer Team will be playing at Crew Stadium on Saturday, September 26. LHS plays Mt. Vernon at 1:15pm. The Columbus Crew take on David Beckham and the L.A. Galaxy at 7:30pm. One ticket will get you into both games. Tickets are $22 for 1 and $80 for 4.

The Lancaster Boys picked up there first win of the season beating Mount Vernon 3-1. Danny Nester started the scoring for Lancaster on an unassisted goal. Lancaster then scored again with 4:44 left in the first half. Sam Vail played a cross that an on rushing Justin Barker finished for his first ever high school goal. Mount Vernon then got one back in the second half to make the score 2-1. The Golden Gales sealed the match when Jordan Arter took a Max Penebaker throw in and scored. Zack Smith had 5 saves for the Golden Gales.

The Golden Gales gave an undefeated Grove City team all it could handle Thursday night. Lancaster played an inspiring match, eventually falling 3 to 2 at home. Grove City scored first with 22:24 left in the first half. Lancaster's Jordan Arter equalized off a corner kick by Justin Barker. Grove City then scored with 3:22 left in the half to go up 2 to 1. Lancaster scored first in the sedcond half off a direct kick by Max Penebaker. Grove City got the game winner with 10:47 left in the game. Zack Smith had 12 save in goal for Lancaster.

That Lancaster Golden Gales openend their season with a hard fought tie at Athens. Athen scored with 17 minutes left in the first half and took that lead into halftime. The Gales came out and played well in a spirited second half. Kevin Parrott leveled the score on a penalty kick mid way through the second half. Danny Nester then scored off an assist from Jordan Arter to put the Gales ahead 2-1. Athen tied the score with 3:00 minutes left in the match. Zack Smith had 7 saves in goal for the Gales.

October 22, 2005 - Sectional Tournament
The Lancaster High School Boys Soccer Team finished a successful season Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Pickerington North.  The Team accomplished a winning record (8-7-1) for the first time since 2001. It is only the second winning record for the program since 1998. The Gales beat Pickerington Central (1-0) for the first time since 1981 and defeated Hilliard Darby (3-0) for the first time ever. Additionally the Boys booters defeated Newark for the first time since 2002 (8-0).  Individually Matt Clouston led the team with 10 goals and 22 points.  Jacob Lang and Devin Schoonover were team leaders with 5 assists. Kenny Green tallied 7 shutouts on the season and had a 1.55 goals against average. The 7 shutouts is a school record for one season.  The Gales also excelled in the classroom with Green earned Academic All-OCC and Academic All-Central District.  The Boys Soccer Team will lose 9 seniors who contributed offensively, defensively and to team unity.

The Lancaster Boys Soccer Team defeated previously once beaten Pickerington Central last night by a score of 1-0. The Gales displayed a total team effort in defeating the Tigers. Matt Clouston scored the game winning goal with 25 minutes left. Clouston scored off a cross from Donny Ankrom. The defense of Marc Mahler, Jacob Getz, Kevin Parrot, Donny Ankrom and Kenny Green posted their 3rd shutout in 5 games.

The Lancaster Boy's Soccer Team played to a hard fought 1-1 tie with  Warren DeLaSalle at Crew Stadium. DeLaSalle is a traditional power out of the Detroit area and finished 6th in the state for the 2004 season.  Lancaster scored with 5 minutes left in the first half. Matt Clouston finished a Devin Schoonover cross to put the Gales up 1-0. The defense held strong for the second half. Defensemen Marc Mahler, Jacob Getz, Donnie Ankrom and Kevin Parrott turned away DeLaSalle attacks. The Pilots got the game tying goal with less than a minute left. Kenny Green ended the day with 15 saves. This was the first goal Green had allowed in three games. The Gales moved to 4-2-2 on the season.

The Boys Soccer Team defeated Central Crossing 3-0. Scoring for the Gales was Matt Clouston, Jared Wickerham, and Jacob Lang. Devin Schoonover had 2 assist. Kenny Green had his 2nd shutout of the week.

The Gales Boys' Soccer Team started their OCC campaign in impressive  fashion with a 8-0 win over Newark. The Gales jumped out to any early 1-0  lead on a goal by Matt Clouston at the 36:30 mark of the first half.  Clouston's goal was assisted by Devin Schoonover. Clouston scored again at the 8:05 mark with an assist credited to Jared Wickerham.  Devon Schoonover scored at the 6:38 mark on a pass from Derek Brown. Wickerham scored at the 1:28 mark of the first half off an assist from Chris Shandorff. The second half started well for the Gales at Devin Schoonover scored at the 36:09 mark off an assist from Clouston. Danny Nester scored at the 34:25 mark off a pass from Jordan Arter. Foreign exchange student Chris Shadorff got his first goal at the 7:30 mark. Nic Shahan capped the scoring off a pass from Justin Barker. The Gales are now 3-2-1 and 1-0 in the OCC.

The Lancaster Boys Soccer Team played a great first half while scoring three goals. Jacob Lang started the scoring for the Gales. Matt  Cloustons truck for the Gales midway through the first half. Jordan Arter scored the final goal of the half off a cross by Devin Schoonover.  Northland rallied in the second half with three goals of their own. The final score was Lancaster 3 and Northland 3.

The Lancaster boys soccer team dropped a hard fought game 3-1 versus West Muskingum. Matt Clouston scored the lone goal for the Gales. The Boys Soccer program would like to thank all the Soccer Alumni in attendance!

The Lancaster Boys Soccer Team fell to defeat for the first time in the 2005 season. Grove City used a quick start to defeat the Gales 5-0 at Grove City.

The Lancaster High School Boys Soccer opened the season with a 4-1 victory over Teays Valley. Danny Nester started the scoring 12 minutes into the game off a cross from Marc Mahler. Teays Valley equalized and the halftime score was 1-1. The Gales kicked it up a notch in the second half as Derek Brown scored on a penalty kick 1:18 into the second half. Devin Schoonover scored 10 seconds later to make the score 3-1. Matt Clouston capped the scoring with 15 minutes left. Kenny Green had 9 saves for the Gales and Brian Widener had 1.

Lancaster defeated Granville 1-0 in a scrimmage last night. The lone goal was scored by Daniel Williams with 3:00 left in the scrimmage, Lancaster also defeated Zane Trace 1-0 in other action. Devin Schoonover  was the lone goal scorer for the Gales. All 20 varsity members contributed to the victories.

LHS Gales Soccer Undefeated at 7 v 7 Tournament
The Lancaster Gales Boys Soccer Team competed in Granville last weekend at the annual 7 v 7 tournament and finished the 2-day event with 2 ties and 3 wins. Kenny Green in goal allowed 5 goals for a solid outing. The Gales scored a combined 16 goals. Scoring for Lancaster were Chase Clark, Matt Clousten, Burgess Abdallah, Ben Squires, Jacob Lang, Donny Ankrom, and Devin Schoonover.

The Golden Gales Boys Varsity Soccer blanked host Groveport Tuesday night  2-0. Goals came from Jacob Lang on a great cross from Donny Ankrom. Ten minutes later, Jacob returned the favor by assisting Donny. Those two first half goals were enough. The shutout came from a great team effort.  The defense now has 4 shutouts! Brandon Edgar in goal has allowed only 5 goals in 10 games. Kenny Green has allowed 3 in relief of Brandon. The Gales visit Hilliard Davidson on Sept. 23rd. Tuesday evening, Sept. 28, the Gales host Gahanna in an OCC, Ohio Division match.  Between the JV and Varsity matches, all former players, boosters, and coaches will be recognized!! Lancaster Gales Boys Soccer Team played a Sept. 4 match at Crew Staeium against Warren DeLaSalle Collegiate High School, Warren, Michigan.  Warren was a Div -1 state finalist last year and was a pre-season favorite to win it all.  The Gales played a hard-fought match and ended with a 0-1 loss.  The team played a very good match behind superb goal keeping by Brandon Edgar and a solid defense.
