October 22, 2005 - Sectional Tournament
The Lancaster High School Boys Soccer Team finished
a successful season Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Pickerington
North. The Team accomplished a winning record
(8-7-1) for the first time since 2001. It is only the
second winning record for the program since 1998. The
Gales beat Pickerington Central (1-0) for the first
time since 1981 and defeated Hilliard Darby (3-0) for
the first time ever. Additionally the Boys booters defeated
Newark for the first time since 2002 (8-0). Individually
Matt Clouston led the team with 10 goals and 22 points.
Jacob Lang and Devin Schoonover were team leaders with
5 assists. Kenny Green tallied 7 shutouts on the season
and had a 1.55 goals against average. The 7 shutouts
is a school record for one season. The Gales also
excelled in the classroom with Green earned Academic
All-OCC and Academic All-Central District. The
Boys Soccer Team will lose 9 seniors who contributed
offensively, defensively and to team unity. Go

The Lancaster Boys Soccer Team defeated previously once
beaten Pickerington Central last night by a score of
1-0. The Gales displayed a total team effort in defeating
the Tigers. Matt Clouston scored the game winning goal
with 25 minutes left. Clouston scored off a cross from
Donny Ankrom. The defense of Marc Mahler, Jacob Getz,
Kevin Parrot, Donny Ankrom and Kenny Green posted their
3rd shutout in 5 games.

Lancaster 1 Warren DeLeSalle 1
The Lancaster Boy's Soccer Team played to a hard
fought 1-1 tie with Warren DeLaSalle at Crew Stadium.
DeLaSalle is a traditional power out of the Detroit
area and finished 6th in the state for the 2004 season.
Lancaster scored with 5 minutes left in the first half.
Matt Clouston finished a Devin Schoonover cross to put
the Gales up 1-0. The defense held strong for the second
half. Defensemen Marc Mahler, Jacob Getz, Donnie Ankrom
and Kevin Parrott turned away DeLaSalle attacks. The
Pilots got the game tying goal with less than a minute
left. Kenny Green ended the day with 15 saves. This
was the first goal Green had allowed in three games.
The Gales moved to 4-2-2 on the season.

Lancaster 3 Central Crossing 0
The Boys Soccer Team defeated Central Crossing 3-0.
Scoring for the Gales was Matt Clouston, Jared Wickerham,
and Jacob Lang. Devin Schoonover had 2 assist. Kenny
Green had his 2nd shutout of the week.

Lancaster 8 Newark 0
The Gales Boys' Soccer Team started their OCC campaign
in impressive fashion with a 8-0 win over Newark.
The Gales jumped out to any early 1-0 lead on
a goal by Matt Clouston at the 36:30 mark of the first
half. Clouston's goal was assisted by Devin Schoonover.
Clouston scored again at the 8:05 mark with an assist
credited to Jared Wickerham. Devon Schoonover
scored at the 6:38 mark on a pass from Derek Brown.
Wickerham scored at the 1:28 mark of the first half
off an assist from Chris Shandorff. The second half
started well for the Gales at Devin Schoonover scored
at the 36:09 mark off an assist from Clouston. Danny
Nester scored at the 34:25 mark off a pass from Jordan
Arter. Foreign exchange student Chris Shadorff got his
first goal at the 7:30 mark. Nic Shahan capped the scoring
off a pass from Justin Barker. The Gales are now 3-2-1
and 1-0 in the OCC.

Lancaster 3 Northland 3
The Lancaster Boys Soccer Team played a great first
half while scoring three goals. Jacob Lang started the
scoring for the Gales. Matt Cloustons truck for
the Gales midway through the first half. Jordan Arter
scored the final goal of the half off a cross by Devin
Schoonover. Northland rallied in the second half
with three goals of their own. The final score was Lancaster
3 and Northland 3.

Lancaster 1 West Muskingum 3
The Lancaster boys soccer team dropped a hard fought
game 3-1 versus West Muskingum. Matt Clouston scored
the lone goal for the Gales. The Boys Soccer program
would like to thank all the Soccer Alumni in attendance!

Lancaster 0 Grove City 5
The Lancaster Boys Soccer Team fell to defeat for the
first time in the 2005 season. Grove City used a quick
start to defeat the Gales 5-0 at Grove City.

Lancaster 2 Athens 1
The Lancaster boys soccer team improved to 2-0 on the
season with a 2-1 win over Athens. Devin Schoonover
started the scoring with a goal in the first half. Athens
then equalized in the second half. Matt Clouston got
the game winner with 13 minutes left in the match.

Lancaster 4 Teays Valley 1
The Lancaster High School Boys Soccer opened the season
with a 4-1 victory over Teays Valley. Danny Nester started
the scoring 12 minutes into the game off a cross from
Marc Mahler. Teays Valley equalized and the halftime
score was 1-1. The Gales kicked it up a notch in the
second half as Derek Brown scored on a penalty kick
1:18 into the second half. Devin Schoonover scored 10
seconds later to make the score 3-1. Matt Clouston capped
the scoring with 15 minutes left. Kenny Green had 9
saves for the Gales and Brian Widener had 1.
August
16, 2005
Lancaster defeated Granville 1-0 in a scrimmage
last night. The lone goal was scored by Daniel Williams
with 3:00 left in the scrimmage, Lancaster also
defeated Zane Trace 1-0 in other action. Devin Schoonover
was the lone goal scorer for the Gales. All 20 varsity
members contributed to the victories.
